Winners at War: Surviving the Pandemic (with a lot of Survivor)

I am about to finish the 40th season of Survivor. FORTY. SEASONS. 😳

I started watching at the very beginning of the pandemic, figuring it would be a good way to put in some time during the first lockdown. And it certainly was that. Beautiful beaches, all the scandal, all the adventure; a great escape.

A year later, in the exact same situation, and I guess it’s time to start again. 🤪

...I hate to think how many hours of my life have been spent watching this show. Nobody calculate it for me, k? I survived the first lockdown, and now the second, with a lot of Survivor. 😂

I can’t say this is where I thought we would be after nearly a year. I feel like this last season of Survivor was accurately titled, “Winners at War”. Both for the players, and as a nod to our everyday lives.

It was equal parts dramatic, chaotic, emotional, painful and beautiful.

It was hard fought, and hard won.

Some people were pushed to the Edge.

Almost everyone continued to fight, even after they assumed their battle was lost.

Everyone learned something, and each person depended on their tribe mates at one time or other.

We may not be on a deserted island warring for two million dollars, but, we are most certainly in a fight for our lives. Living through unimaginable circumstances. Facing challenges and unexpected blessings around every corner.

This is hard, loves. But keep fighting. I want us to emerge victorious. And when you can’t fight on your own anymore, lean (virtually) on your tribe mates - we’re not meant to battle alone.
